OpEd Thesis...oh joy...

Well, here's what I've got:

I believe all professors at BYU should be members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, as they are required to apply their subject of teaching to the Gospel and a testimony is required to do so.

  1. This is a cool topic. I figured that all teachers at BYU were LDS? So it'll be interesting to hear your background information! Good luck.

    1. Yeah, I always assumed all BYU professors were LDS, too! I don't think it's bad that some of them aren't, but I think it would be best if they were LDS so they could teach what they actually believe. So...that's my topic! Thanks for the comment!

  2. I don't think we should be so strict on who we let teach at BYU. I think we may appear like elitists and we are not about that as members of the church. I think if professors abide by the honor code, then they should be able to teach here.

    1. Yeah, I've thought about that, too. Honestly, I don't have a real firm opinion about this. If I were to choose, I'd still say they should be LDS, but I don't have anything against those who aren't. I just want to get a good grade on my essay. Thanks for your insight!

  3. I partially agree with you on this. I think that it would be nice if all professors were LDS, and it's definitely way cool when professors connect subjects like math with LDS principles, but I don't think it should be a requirement. Sometimes it's even nice to hear non-LDS viewpoints, and a lot of time that even strengthens your own views and beliefs!

    1. I definitely agree with that, and I don't really have any way to argue against you because I think you're right. But I'm still going to argue that they should be required, just to make it a more persuasive essay (in other words, get me a better grade haha). Thanks for the comment!
